Nottingham hosts the third largest student population in the UK, with just over 22,000 students living in the city. There is a lot to offer to you, the students.

Nottingham is famous around the world for many things - from fine lace to football, from Robin Hood and the Sheriff to household names such as the Boots Company and Releigh bicycles. It is a cosmopolitan city, with a diversity of cultures, and countryside close at hand. It's a great place in which to live and work and to those who know Nottingham it came as no surprise that in a recent national survey it was voted the best city in the country in which to live.

The city combines the best of old and new. Shoppers have excellent modern shopping centres and traditional markets. Cultural life thrives, with a superb modern concert hall attracting well know names from the classical, pop and rock worlds, and two theatres - including the lovingly restored Theatre Royal.

Shopping

Nottingham is famous for its shopping, and being a home of the many designers who have made Nottingham a global landmark. For instance, Paul Smith was actually born in Beeston, now he is internationally known. Jesse Boot (founder of boots the chemist)

Nights Out

We recommend, visiting the Corner house, where you will find restaurants such as Nando’s, Flaming Dragon, Slug & Lettuce and Subway. Bars & Clubs such as: Revolution, Jumping Jacks & Saltwater. The corner house is also home to a 20 screen multi-plex cinema, and a Casino.

Try going to watch the Nottingham Panthers for a night. They are Ice hockey champions. They are fourth in the BMI baby elite table. It is bound to be an exciting action packed night.

Nottingham Arena is the biggest entertainment venue in the East Midlands attracting some of the biggest tours and artists and also try ice skating for some alternative exercise at one of the largest indoor ice rinks in the country.

Goose Fair

Whilst living in Nottingham it is a must that you visit Goose Fair. It returns from Wednesday 1 to Saturday 4 October 2008 to thrill and delight city residents and visitors.

With more than 700 years of history, Nottingham Goose Fair is one of Europe's most famous travelling fairs, and is still a fantastic event to delight all ages.

Over 500 attractions await fair-goers, from the latest white knuckle experiences, family rides and favourites including waltzers, carousels and Hook-a-Duck.
